BIPOC Suicide Prevention Technical Assistance Workforce Program

Addressing Suicide Prevention For BIPOC Women in Colorado Springs

Rooted in HER Story a BIPOC Suicide Prevention Technical Assistance (TA) Workforce Program is a community-driven initiative designed to reduce suicide rates among Black, Brown, and Indigenous women in El Paso County. This program provides culturally informed resources, technical assistance, and workforce development to equip healthcare providers, peer navigators, and organizations with the tools needed to address systemic barriers and promote equitable mental health support.

Why This Program Matters

  • Suicide rates among BIPOC women in Colorado have been rising, with Indigenous populations facing rates nearly three times higher than the state average.

  • The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) prioritizes suicide prevention and recognizes the need for culturally responsive strategies to support historically underserved communities.

  • By implementing peer-led support, provider training, and community outreach, we are fostering sustainable pathways to healing and resilience.
