Suicide Prevention Technical Assistance Workforce Program

Addressing Suicide Prevention For Underserved Women in El Paso County Colorado

Rooted in HER is a community-driven suicide prevention initiative focused on reducing mental health disparities among underserved women in El Paso County. This Technical Assistance (TA) Workforce Program provides culturally responsive resources, training, and support to equip healthcare providers, peer navigators, and organizations with the tools to address systemic gaps and expand access to compassionate, effective care.

Why This Program Matters

Suicide rates among women in Colorado’s underserved communities have been rising, with Indigenous populations experiencing rates nearly three times higher than the state average. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has identified suicide prevention as a statewide priority and emphasizes the importance of culturally responsive approaches to care. Through peer-led support, provider training, and community outreach, we’re building sustainable pathways to healing, connection, and resilience.
